The Gers, department 32, is in South West France at the heart of old Gascony, a triangular area below the Garonne, stretching from Bordeaux in the west, then going eastwards towards Toulouse and southwards towards the foothills of the Pyrenees.
AUCH is the main town.
The Gers is bordered by the Lot and Garonne (47), Tarn and Garonne (82), Haute Garonne (31), Haute Pyrenees (65), Pyrenees Atlantiques (64), and the Landes (40). These last two are not readily accessible from our office, but the others are, especially 31 and 65.
Motorways. There are no motorways in the Gers but there is easy access to the A62 Bordeaux – Toulouse autoroute, north of the border, and the A64 Biarritz – Toulouse autoroute, south of the border, both of which link with a network around Toulouse , and also take you to the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts
Nearest airport is Toulouse, one hour from Auch. Further afield are Bordeaux, Biarritz, Carcassonne, Tarbes and Pau.
Nearest French port is St. Malo, 7 hours from Auch. Others are Caen (9 hours), Cherbourg and Le Havre (9 - 10 hours)
